NM and US Flags

Hello, everyone. Friday marked the end of the first week of the legislative session in New Mexico.

As I mentioned last week, the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act, HB 11, was pre-filed. It has quickly been passed to House Health and Human Services for their review. We continue to keep a look out on this one.

There are a couple of minimum wage bills specific to particular employees (research and public works) and a proposed 2% cost of living adjustment for some public employees (PERA funded) but no across the board minimum wage changes proposed as of yet.

Senate Bill 26 proposes to change Protection Against Abuse and Violence, the Act that allows employees to take up to 14 days off from an individual’s employer for reasons related to violence, to the Family Violence Protection Act.

Southwestern HR Consulting (SWHRC) will continue monitoring HR related bills during this session.  Contact SWHRC today at the link above to find out more about our services and our team of experts.today at the link above to find out more about our services and our team of experts.
