In anticipation of the New Year, we at Southwestern HR Consulting (SWHRC) will be watching
and reporting on the 2023 New Mexico legislative session for employment related bills. This
year will be a short session with the opening session beginning at noon on January 17, 2023,
and the deadline for the introduction of new items being February 16, 2023. The session will
end at noon on March 18, 2023 (updated from March 16 th ). However, legislation may be pre-
filed between January 3, 2023, and January 13, 2023.


Possible items for discussion in this legislative session may include Family Medical Leave,
updates to the Healthy Workplaces Act, and updates to minimum wage. We will be tracking
these potential items and others during the session.
