Southwestern HR Consulting (SWHRC) previously shared that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) were going to be hosting a roundtable regarding how automated technologies affect DEI and accessibility. The round table registration information has now been released. The roundtable will occur on September 13, 2022, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm MST. Those interested may register here or may access the livestream on the EEOC’s YouTube page.

In addition, the EEOC released information this week regarding a lawsuit they filed regarding a case of a female applicant who was questioned regarding her ability to lift despite having experience in the field. In addition, the manager recommended the applicant consider a lower-paying position. Two male candidates were hired within a week of the female’s interview, and the EEOC determined they were not more qualified than the female applicant. The lawsuit seeks backpay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and injunctive relief.
